The 2230 Rabastor Unity Trophy was the forty-fifth edition of the Rabastor Unity Trophy, the biennial friendly international football tournament held in Callistea to promote good diplomatic relations between nations. As is typical for the tournament, matches were played in three cities within Callistea. The tournament began on 24 July 2230 (Osarian calendar) and finished on 1 August. Aquillian emerged victorious, for their sixth title, with three wins from four games.

Invited teams

The Callistean Ministry for Sport delayed on sending invites at first, pending the results of discussions pertaining to the proposed entry of Cobrio into the Rabastorian Union. When the Council of Rabastor granted associate membership to Cobrio, CMS expanded the tournament and extended an invite to the Cobre government, due to the absence of an official football association in the nation. All five invited associations accepted, and the line-up was finalised on 8 July.

The idea of inviting additional nations for the second time was floated, but the Callistean Ministry for Sport declined the option, believing that fans were more interested in seeing the traditional rivalries, and that the introduction of Cobrio was enough of a change for this edition.

Squads

See: Rabastor Unity Trophy 2230 squads

Each team's squad for the 2230 Rabastor Unity Trophy consisted of a minimum of eighteen players, up to a maximum of thirty players. Each nation was obligated to name at least two goalkeepers in their squad, with three goalkeepers required for any squad consisting more than twenty-two players. Each participating national association was required to confirm its final squad no later than 3 working days before the start of the tournament. Alterations to squads were not permitted after squad submission, even in case of injury.

Matchday squads were not required, though a nation was not permitted to make use of more than eighteen players on any given matchday. All players featuring in matches must be named in the squad list submitted prior to the tournament start. If a team could not name a squad of at least seven players fifteen minutes prior to kick off for a specific match, the result would be forfeit and the opposition awarded a 3-0 victory.

Osarius, who had taken to sending an under age team since the late 2190s, opted to send an under 18s team this time around. Cobrio, making their debut at the tournament, sent a full squad of thirty, of whom only four had previously declared for the nation. The remaining twenty-six were registered as Osarian, but opted to compete under the Cobre flag for varying reasons.

Match officials

A total of 4 referees, 4 support referees, and 16 assistant referees were selected for the tournament, all of whom were Callistean. They were assigned in teams of six, with each match being designated one officiating team, and another team acting as "reserve" in case of a problem.

Draw

The draw was held on 10 July 2230 at 12:00 local time at the Royal Court of Callistea in Paphos, Callistea. There was no seeding of teams based on rank, but instead, teams were assigned an entry number. These entry numbers were used to configure the order of play in the tournament.

Matches

The provisional match schedule for the tournament was released on 10 July 2230, immediately after the draw.

All matches were played to ninety minutes, with thirty minutes of extra time contested if scores were level. If scores remained level after extra time, a shootout under Attacker-Defender-Goalkeeper rules was conducted.

Notably, for the first time since the system was introduced, no match saw a team awarded a bonus point for scoring more than three goals in a match.

Tournament ranking

Prior to the start of the tournament, it was announced that the competition would be competed in the traditional, single-group, round-robin format, with matches played under the new scoring system introduced in 2222.

This system dictates that no match could end in a draw, with all matches decided on the day, using extra time and a shootout (under ADG rules) if necessary.

In accordance with this system, rankings were tabulated using a different point system to the conventional league point system. Two points were awarded to the winner of each match, with one point awarded to a team losing in a game that required extra time and/or a penalty shootout to determine a winner. In addition, a bonus point was to be awarded to any team scoring more than three goals in a match (including extra time, but not goals scored during penalty shootouts), regardless of whether they won or lost the match in question.

Due to the round-robin, no-draw format, there was only one tiebreaker required when teams were level on points (including any bonus points awarded): Head-to-head results.
