The 2222 Rabastor Unity Trophy was the forty-first edition of the Rabastor Unity Trophy, the biennial friendly international football tournament held in Callistea to promote good diplomatic relations between nations. As is typical for the tournament, matches were played in three cities within Callistea. The tournament began on 27 July 2222 (Osarian calendar) and finished on 4 August. Osarius emerged victorious, with three wins from three games.

Invited teams

The Callistean Ministry for Sport sent invites to the four other nations affected by the Urania Agreement, all of whom hold seats on the Council of Rabastor. All four associations accepted, and the line-up was finalised on 28 June.

The idea of inviting additional nations for the second time was floated, but the Callistean Ministry for Sport declined the option, believing that fans were more interested in seeing the traditional rivalries.

Squads

Each team's squad for the 2222 Rabastor Unity Trophy consisted of 23 players (three of whom must be goalkeepers). Each participating national association was required to confirm its final 23-player squad no later than 3 working days before the start of the tournament. Replacement of seriously injured players was permitted until the listed kickoff time of the team in question's first Rabastor Unity Trophy game.

Osarius, who had taken to sending an under age team since the late 2190s, opted to send an under 20s team again. Under the new arrangement of the national team, the head of the developmental unit, Ayanna Barca-Carthy led the team.

Match officials

A total of 3 referees, 3 support referees, and 12 assistant referees were selected for the tournament, all of whom were Callistean.

Draw

The draw was held on 5 July 2214 at 12:00 local time at the Royal Court of Callistea in Paphos, Callistea. There was no seeding of teams based on rank, but instead, teams were assigned an entry number. These entry numbers were used to configure the order of play in the tournament.

Tournament ranking

Prior to the start of the tournament, it was announced that the competition would revert to the traditional, single-group, round-robin format. In addition, some other rules had been implemented.

Unlike in past editions, there were no longer any draws; all matches were to be decided on the day, using extra time and kicks from the penalty mark if necessary. This alteration meant that points awarded would be changed too. Two points were awarded to the winner of each match, with one point awarded to a team losing in a game that required extra time and/or a penalty shootout to determine a winner.

In addition to these changes, a bonus point was to be awarded to any team scoring more than three goals in a match (including extra time, but not goals scored during penalty shootouts), regardless of whether they won or lost the match in question.
