Half-spaces: The half-spaces are defined as the areas between the traditionally defined vertical channels of the pitch. Typically a pitch is divided into the "wings", the "channels" and the "middle". Half-spaces are the areas between these designations, and are a key tactical feature in the Osarian 4-3-3.

Sweeper-keeper: A goalkeeper who often moves forward to assist in defensive action, much like the defensive "sweeper" in some implementations of the 5-man defensive system. A sweeper-keeper typically operates behind a high defensive line, providing an element of cover for the centre backs. This, in turn, allows for a more aggressive defensive press.
